The name has personal roots. Claire grew up with a family connection to a small harbour village on the west coast of Ireland, the place from which St Brendan is said to have set sail on his legendary voyage across the Atlantic. As a child, the wooden rowing boats (currachs) at the harbour were a familiar sight. There is something quietly remarkable about those small vessels and the vast ocean they were built to face. It felt like the right name for a psychology practice. Group therapy offers something individual therapy cannot, the particular experience of working through difficult things alongside other people who understand, from the inside, what you are navigating. For many presentations, the group itself is part of the therapeutic process: the shared recognition, the reduction in isolation, and the relational learning that happens when people work together toward something meaningful. Groups at Imrama Psychology are small, carefully structured, and clinically grounded. They are run in collaboration with Wild Rose Wellness & Psychology and other practitioners at the Churchill Avenue Practice — a collective of experienced clinicians whose areas of expertise span perinatal mental health, relationship and couples support, eating disorders, neurodiversity, and the challenges of professional life. Current and upcoming group programs span a range of focus areas, including: Support for new and expecting parents navigating the emotional and relational dimensions of the perinatal period.
