Areas of Focus Overview for Referrers

Areas of Focus

  • Anxiety

Claire works with the full range of anxiety presentations, including clients whose anxiety has become a significant barrier to daily functioning, relationships, or work. This includes generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, and health anxiety, as well as anxiety arising in the context of chronic illness or major life transitions.

Generalised anxiety, panic, social anxiety, and health anxiety.

  • Eating Disorder and Body Image

Restrictive eating, binge-purge presentations, and disordered relationships with food and body, across adolescence and adulthood.

Claire has specialist experience in eating disorder assessment and treatment, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, ARFID, and sub-clinical presentations involving disordered eating patterns. In addition to individual therapy, she is trained in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for younger clients, and works with adults where eating difficulties intersect with perfectionism, anxiety, trauma, or identity.

Referrals are welcome from GPs, paediatricians, and specialist services seeking psychological input as part of a broader treatment team.

  • Perfectionism and Worry

Perfectionism and chronic worry are often minimised by clients or reframed as assets, particularly in high-achieving contexts, yet can drive significant avoidance, procrastination, relentless self-criticism, and distress. Claire works with clients where these patterns have become entrenched and are interfering with well-being or functioning.

Where perfectionism or worry has become a clinical difficulty rather than a personality trait.

  • Perimenopause and life transitions

Perimenopause is frequently underrecognised as a contributor to psychological presentations, including low mood, anxiety, sleep disruption, irritability, and a sense of losing oneself. Claire works with women navigating this transition, including those whose symptoms have been attributed elsewhere, and those grappling with the broader identity shifts midlife can bring. This work often sits at the intersection of mood, body, and self, and benefits from a clinician who takes the hormonal and psychological dimensions seriously together.

  • Women's Health

Women's mental health presentations are frequently shaped by the intersection of biological, relational, and social factors. Claire works with women across the lifespan, including those managing the cumulative demands of career, caregiving, and identity; those navigating hormonal transitions from the reproductive years through perimenopause to menopause. This is a thread running through much of Claire's clinical work rather than a discrete specialty.

  • Perinatal

Claire works with women experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, fertility, pregnancy and birth complications, and adjustment difficulties during pregnancy and in the postpartum period. She is experienced in supporting women whose perinatal presentations are complex including those with pre-existing mental health histories, significant birth experiences, or difficulties with the identity shift that new parenthood brings. She also works with non-birthing partners during the Perinatal and early years period. Collaborative work with GPs, obstetricians, allied health, and midwives is welcomed.

  • Depression and low mood

Claire works with depression ranging from mild to severe, including presentations that co-occur with chronic physical health conditions, perinatal and perimenopausal experiences, or significant life change. She is experienced in supporting clients for whom low mood has become entangled with questions of identity, purpose, or role, including women whose mood symptoms have emerged or shifted during hormonal transitions and have not been fully recognised as such.

Persistent low mood, including depression linked to illness, hormonal transitions, identity change, or significant life events.

  • Neurodiversity

Claire works with neurodivergent clients, including those who have received a late diagnosis of ADHD or autism, or who are mid-assessment and navigating uncertainty. Therapy focuses on the psychological and emotional dimensions of neurodivergent experience, including burnout, masking, identity, self-esteem, and the cumulative impact of moving through systems not designed with neurodivergent people in mind. Claire does not provide diagnostic assessment at this time but is experienced in working collaboratively with diagnosing clinicians.

  • Parenting

Parent support particularly navigating a child's eating disorder or significant mental health difficulties. Supporting parents with their own or their child/adolescent’s mental health across anxiety, mood, eating disorders, identity, neurodiversity, and adjustment. Experience across specialist and community settings.

  • Relationships, Couples, and Family Therapy

Claire works with individuals, couples, and families experiencing relational strain, including communication difficulties, conflict, life stage transitions, and the impact of external stressors on the relationship system. She has experience with FIFO and fly-in fly-out relationship dynamics, the relational impact of chronic illness, and couples navigating significant life change including new parenthood, career transitions and other stressors.

  • Chronic & complex physical health

As Claire has a background in endocrinology at FSH and PCH she is experienced in Psychological impacts of chronic illness such as hypermobility spectrum disorders, POTS, autoimmune and endocrine presentations.

  • OCD

Claire works with OCD across a range of presentations, including those characterised by intrusive thoughts, compulsive checking, and reassurance-seeking. She also sees clients with OCD-spectrum presentations such as health anxiety and body-focused concerns.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder, intrusive thoughts, and OCD-spectrum difficulties.
