imrama psychology
Wherever you are right now, this is a good place to start.
Now open and accepting new clients, Wednesdays and Saturdays face to face in Subiaco, and via telehealth across WA and Australia-wide.
Imrama (im-RAH-mah) is an Old Irish word for a voyage by sea, a journey into unknown waters in search of something that can only be found by going. The word captures something true about what it takes to sit with what's difficult, to look honestly at what isn't working, and to trust that the going matters even when the destination isn't clear.
Imrama Psychology is a Boorloo/Perth-based clinical psychology practice. Claire works with adults, young adults, adolescents, couples, and families navigating a wide range of concerns, from anxiety, mood, and everyday challenges through to eating disorders, perinatal mental health, women's health, neurodiversity, and relationship difficulties. Sessions are available face to face in Subiaco and via telehealth across Australia.
If you're not quite sure where to begin, that's okay. Most people aren't.
About Claire
Claire is a clinical psychologist with a broad clinical background spanning some of Western Australia's leading public and private specialist services. She works with people navigating a wide range of difficulties, from focused and time-limited concerns to more complex and longstanding experiences, and brings a warm, direct approach to the work.
She takes the whole person seriously, not just the presenting concern, and doesn't assume she knows what the work needs to look like before it's begun.
Before retraining as a clinical psychologist, Claire spent several years in executive recruitment. Originally from Ireland, she has lived experience of migration, career change, and the particular shape of early motherhood far from extended family. These are not incidental, they are part of how she works.

Areas of Focus
Why Imrama?
The name has personal roots. Claire grew up with a family connection to a small harbour village on the west coast of Ireland, the place from which St Brendan is said to have set sail on his legendary voyage across the Atlantic. As a child, the wooden rowing boats (currachs) at the harbour were a familiar sight. There is something quietly remarkable about those small vessels and the vast ocean they were built to face.
It felt like the right name for a psychology practice. The work of therapy asks something similar, the willingness to set out into unfamiliar territory, to sit with uncertainty, and to trust that what can be found along the way is worth the going.
Imrama Psychology is an inclusive practice.
Claire works with people of all genders, sexual orientations, relationship structures, and family configurations, individuals, couples, and families across the full spectrum of human experience. She is experienced in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, and with those navigating the intersections of identity, neurodiversity, physical and mental health.
You shouldn't have to wonder whether you'll be welcome here. If you want to ask before you commit to an appointment, please do, that conversation is always available.
