Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating, & Body Image Concerns
Concerns about eating, food, and body image exist on a wide spectrum, and you don't need a formal diagnosis to find this work relevant or useful. Claire works with people across the whole scope, from disordered eating and body image distress that hasn't been formally named, through to the full range of eating disorder presentations including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, and related conditions.
Claire has extensive experience in this area across the lifespan and people of all genders, having worked in some of Western Australia's leading public and private specialist eating disorder services including inpatient, day program, and outpatient, with children, adolescents, and adults. She works collaboratively with GPs, dietitians, psychiatrists, and paediatricians and other allied health and lived experience professionals as part of an integrated care approach where this is appropriate.
These concerns rarely arrive in isolation. Claire has particular experience in the intersections between eating and body image difficulties and anxiety, perfectionism, neurodiversity, trauma, hormonal health, chronic physical health conditions, and life transitions including the perinatal and perimenopausal periods. This work is approached without assumptions, about what recovery should look like, what a body should look like, or how quickly things should move. Whatever your history, your gender, your body, or your relationship with food has looked like, you are welcome here exactly as you are. The work begins with understanding your whole picture, not fitting you into a therapy framework.
If you are not sure you are ready, that is okay. Grappling with the desire to change and the fear of it, is a normal part of this, not a reason to wait.
Hard things deserve real help.
