University Students, Early Career & Trainees
Claire works with university students and those undertaking postgraduate or professional training pathways; including psychology trainees, medical students, lawyers, and others in the early or middle stages of long and demanding training programs. The particular shape of that experience is something Claire understands from the inside. She completed her own clinical psychology training over a ten year period spanning undergraduate study, honours, postgraduate training, and the registrar program, much of it undertaken as an overseas professional, without the support networks that make that kind of sustained effort easier to carry.
What she knows from that experience is that high-stakes training programs have a way of making it harder, not easier, to ask for help. The gap between how competent you appear to others and how uncertain you feel privately can be significant. The pressure to perform in supervision, to manage self-doubt quietly, and to keep going through the exhaustion and the identity questions that long training pathways inevitably raise, are real, and they deserve real support. You do not need to wait until you are qualified, or until things feel urgent, to reach out.
